Although there has been a house peering out from this majestic spot for 350 years, the current house dates from the 19th century, since which time it has undergone a number of transformations. The result is an exquisite blend of contemporary glamour and period splendour, combining spectacular 21st century luxury with the loveliness of a Georgian backdrop. For the aesthete therefore, Clonwilliam is that rare breed of house that has everything – exemplary luxury and design set in outstanding natural beauty. In its new incarnation as one of Ireland’s most exclusive wedding venues, Clonwilliam sits comfortably amongst the best wedding venues in Ireland.
It is undoubtedly true that the words of the poet Thomas Moore, written while sojourning in Avoca, resonate for all those who visit here:
“There is not in this wide world a valley so sweet
As that vale in whose bosom the bright waters meet”.
If you are looking for memories as lasting as the vows you will exchange, then celebrate your wedding at Westport House, voted Ireland’s Best Exclusive Wedding Venue by weddingsonline.ie in 2011 and shortlisted again in 2013.
