Former home of poet laureate C. Day-Lewis and of actors John Hurt and Sebastian Shaw, this fascinating manor house is surrounded by its own horticultural legacy and is the ultimate festival-style wedding and events venue.
The settlement dates back to 1540 and is an on-going work of art with 14 acres of continuously evolving formal gardens and formidable water features.
Creative tent and event aficionados LPM Bohemia offer these ‘tented pleasure gardens’ along with the main house and further accommodation on an exclusive rental basis.
With a myriad of boutique glamping options as well as its own church, humanist and civil partnerships within the grounds, Ballintubbert is a truly comprehensive venue.

Although there has been a house peering out from this majestic spot for 350 years, the current house dates from the 19th century, since which time it has undergone a number of transformations. The result is an exquisite blend of contemporary glamour and period splendour, combining spectacular 21st century luxury with the loveliness of a Georgian backdrop. For the aesthete therefore, Clonwilliam is that rare breed of house that has everything – exemplary luxury and design set in outstanding natural beauty. In its new incarnation as one of Ireland’s most exclusive wedding venues, Clonwilliam sits comfortably amongst the best wedding venues in Ireland.
It is undoubtedly true that the words of the poet Thomas Moore, written while sojourning in Avoca, resonate for all those who visit here:
“There is not in this wide world a valley so sweet
As that vale in whose bosom the bright waters meet”.
I’ve been referred to as a photographer many times and even though I’ve studied it, gotten paid for it, had full and half page spreads in the Irish times, the Daily Mirror, Hot press, and the RTE Guide and my first exhibition “Liberties Inked” launched in the National College of Art and Design in June of 2013, from there it took pride of place in Dublin City Hall as part of Culture Night where it ran for a month. The exhibition is currently touring libraries around Dublin. I will always be a student of photography. I say this because it is one of the only art forms that will never cease to evolve and personally I’m constantly discovering new and interesting ways to make my work better as I strive for perfection.
