The Italian Affair. Tess & Paolo July 2016 #Theweddingdiaries

Welcome back to the Wedding Diaries. Have you ever dreamt of that perfect summer wedding in Italy overlooking the Mediterranean? Welcome to idyllic Calabria and Tess & Paolos’ spectacular July nuptials.

The stunning town of Cirella on the Mediterranean provided the spectacular backdrop to a fabulous day attended by both families and friends from Ireland & Calabria. Tess comes from Cavan and Paolo from Praia a Mare in Calabria.

The village church was the scene for the ceremony and the magical location of the Hotel Ducale on the water front set the scene for an evening of local food wine and dancing.

Tess being no stranger to the hospitality industry; an owner of the well known Chili Club in Dublin had a big input into creating the menu for the day as the Hotel pulled out all the stops in this spectacular setting.

Tess tells me; “The Dress, veil and bolero all came from ‘Dirty fabulous’ on Dublin’s Wicklow Street who I was first introduced to at The Wedding Guy’s Bridal Brunch in Dublin last year.”

“This is where we got our invites as well from Kerry Harvey design!! We had just gotten engaged before the bridal brunch and a lot of our inspiration came from Stephen’s knowledge and contacts at the brunch! Stephen actually helped set the amazing tone of our wedding.”

“Our choice of Venue was inspired by the 1940’s 50’s era, this was always my dream and was set in motion after The Bridal Brunch!!”

“This photo with Paolo’s Nonna means the world to the both of us as she had been very sick a few years ago and we were delighted she was able to attend our wedding and in such high spirits. My own mother sadly passed away before the wedding and she was in all our thoughts the whole day, it was a very emotional day for all of us”

“The photos of us leaving the church and been bombarded with rice (especially by our fairy flower girls) which the Italians use instead of confetti sums up the fun and diversity in cultures from both sides of our family”

(Some people got a little carried away!)

“The flowers were by a lady called Samanta Tarallo from Praia a Mare, we loved her work, she is an amazing artist”

“We would also like to thank Manuela Di Goirno all the team in the Hotel Ducale for all their effortless work in preparing for and during our wedding day, they are true professionals and made ourselves and our guests incredibly welcome”

“I can’t thank Stephen (The Wedding Guy) enough for not only helping us but for helping create our dream wedding.  I would recommend him to anyone who wants help to realise their dream ideas and help bring them to life!!
Stephen is a natural and made everything seem effortless”
