Set among the lush rolling hills of County Cavan, this is one of those weddings where you will think I’d love to have been there. Aisling shares her thoughts and memories from their beautiful wedding day.
“I loved Tierworker church as it was small and intimate. A friend commented after on how it was very cute and that is what I thought too”.
I picked the dress as I love lace and I felt comfortable in it. I loved the straps along the shoulders. The look was in keeping with my personality. I wanted a long veil as I had seen a photo of a bride who had a cathedral length veil and I loved how it flowed as she walked up the steps to the altar.
The only thing would do again is practice walking with it more as when I went up to light the candles, I struggled with turning around, there was a funny moment when the priest had to help me.
I changed my mind five times on the dress. My mother owns a bridal shop and I got carried away in the beginning and picked my dress too early.
The first was quite similar to my sisters in places so I decided not to go with it. Her dress was fab but I didn’t want to ‘copy’ her style. The next was chiffon and was a real princess look, I loved it too but then felt it wasn’t me either. Another was lace and it was fab. However, the dress I went for was called Harry and as my nephew’s name is Harry and I loved the shoulder straps at the top, I opted for it. It felt like it was meant to be.
What was very important was to keep everything true to our personalities-from the colour scheme (we both love green) to the church music, mass booklets, table names etc… and that everyone would have a great day.
The photographer’s name was Mark Capilitan. We loved his style as it was documentary. Therefore our album tells the story of our day which is exactly what we wanted.
Some of my favourite memories include; the morning getting ready, cian my nephew opening the car door for me at the church, having pictures taken on the landing in my house, walking down the aisle, the speeches and having all our friends and family in the same room on the same day (almost all).
The first dance as we picked ‘You Make My Dreams Come True’ by Hall and Oates which is from our favourite film ‘500 Days of Summer’, Rock the Boat and the Resident’s Bar that night- basically the whole day!! It’s hard to pick one.
We chose Cabra Castle as they do everything to perfection. It is a beautiful setting with gorgeous rooms inside, along with fabulous grounds outside. The food there is amazing!!
